Year 10 Songwriting Workshop

On Wednesday 27th April we took 15 of our Year 10 Music students to Portsmouth College for a songwriting workshop. This was a great opportunity for the students to get a taste of what it is like to study Music in Further Education. The group all got fully stuck into the songwriting process in small groups with the support of some second-year college students. They were given different starting points by the Music Performance lecturer and then each group worked together to write lyrics, add melody, drum, and bass parts to create a verse and chorus section to an original song. Each group then performed their original pieces at the end of the session. The students all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were a credit to the College!

"It was a very fun experience learning how to write a song and working with new people in the college environment." - Oscar. J
