Youth Speaks in Debate competition winners!

This morning 10 of our Year 7-9 students travelled to Park Community School to compete in this year's Rotary Youth Speaks in Debate Competition, hosted by The Rotary Club of Havant.

The students had to prepare and present their own debate on topics of their choice. After lots of dedicated rehearsals after school and at lunchtime the groups were ready to present their 15-minute debate to a panel of judges.

First up was our Intermediate Team against two other schools; Hayling College and Park Community School, followed by our Senior Team with a head-to-head against Cowplain School.

Despite any initial nerves, our young debaters rose to the challenge and delivered well-researched and engaging debates, which resulted in Crookhorn College being announced as the WINNERS of both rounds!

Students receiving certificates and two shields that they have brought back to College to proudly display. They will now be representing not only Crookhorn College but also the Havant region in the next round.

Thank you to The Rotary Club of Havant for running the event and well done to all the other local schools that took part.

"The teams represented Crookhorn College with pride and put on a fantastic debate, with the judges complimenting both teams on their confidence and presentations. We are now looking forward to competing in the District heats."
