Crookhorn welcomes cultural exchange students from China

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome our very first group of Chinese visitors to the College! From the moment they arrived on Monday morning, they were greeted by their student buddies and launched into a packed and exciting programme.
Throughout the week, our guests experienced everything from Tutor Time and lessons to assemblies and unstructured social time. Highlights included an energetic Spanish taster with Mr Valera and a fun Library scavenger hunt and quiz with Miss Humby. They also had the chance to enjoy our fantastic College production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and attend our Year 9 Hobbies & Interests Morning.
It’s been an absolute joy having them with us — and this was just the beginning!
The second half of our Chinese visitors’ week was just as enriching! Wednesday saw a lively Question & Answer session with our Year 10 and 11 students, discussing everything from family life and hobbies to culture, geography, and education. The room was buzzing with curiosity and connection — they could have talked for hours!
Each day ended with friendly sports sessions — football, tennis, and badminton proving firm favourites. On Thursday, our visitors and their buddies explored traditional Chinese calligraphy with some amazing results. The week wrapped up in true British style with afternoon tea, musical performances from both Crookhorn and Chinese students, and a heartfelt celebration of new friendships.
We can’t wait to welcome our next group in the Autumn term!
