Year 7&8 Titchfield Mosque visit

On Tuesday 13th of January, the RS department took Year 7 and Year 8 on a morning trip to a local Mosque, the Al Mahdi Centre in Titchfield. The students and staff were greeted by the Imam of the Mosque, who showed us around the Mosque, pointing out the environmentally friendly aspects of the building.

Students were shown the classrooms that children use for Saturday school, the washroom where the followers religiously wash before prayer and led into the main prayer room. Students were shown the different aspects of a Mosque prayer room and shown beautiful copies of the Qur’an. The students listened intently whilst the Imam taught us all about the key beliefs and practices in Islam.

Throughout our trip to the Mosque, our students were respectful and upheld the College’s cornerstones. Students were a credit to themselves and the College on this day whilst remaining keen to learn and upholding exemplary behaviour.

What some of our students had to say about the trip:

“The visit to the mosque was a very intriguing trip. The person in the mosque was kind to us, letting us take our time when looking at the Qur'an, and he told us lots of useful information that would later further my knowledge. To conclude, the trip was very nice and informative, but sadly we couldn’t go outside for long as it was raining.” – Darius, Year 7

“It was quite interesting. The Imam told us how they worship. He showed us classrooms and told us about the activities they do. They also told us about the structure of the Mosque” – Reyo, Year 7
