Teenage Cancer Trust visits Crookhorn
This morning Crookhorn College had the privilege of welcoming Lindsay Wilson from the Teenage Cancer Trust to speak to our Year 9 students, as part of their PSHE lesson.
Working as the Education and Awareness Programme Manager for the charity, Lindsay came to the College today with a challenge for our students; to be the next generation that isn't afraid to talk about cancer.
She discussed openly how she was affected by the disease at the age of 18, how it impacted her life at a young age and how important it is to speak to someone (either a parent, carer or doctor) if you have any concerns.
“Know your body. Be the expert of your body. Take responsibility for your health.“
Students at the College today found Lindsay's talk really engaging and we'd like to thank her for making it so honest and insightful.
Cancer is an extremely important, but can be quite a scary subject for young people to discuss but Lindsay approached and explained it in such an open and engaging way.
