Year 8 & 9 Take on London’s World of Maths & Science!

Yesterday, 38 of our brilliant Year 8 and 9 students headed into London for an action-packed learning adventure at the Science Museum and Mathsworld — and what a day it was!
The morning began in the Mathematics Gallery, where students discovered how mathematicians have shaped our world throughout history. From there, they explored the Engineers and Technicians galleries, learning about exciting careers that combine maths and science. Along the way, they got hands-on with interactive exhibits — even trying activities linked to medical and performing arts careers!
In the afternoon, it was off to Mathsworld for even more immersive learning. Students experimented with fascinating concepts such as how bubbles follow the shortest paths, challenged themselves to build bridges using only trapeziums, cracked codes, explored the maths behind chess, and finished the day with an impressive Leonardo Dome workshop — constructing a dome using nothing but straight lines and squares!
Our students showed fantastic enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork throughout the day, throwing themselves into every activity and making the most of this inspiring experience. A huge well done to everyone involved — a truly memorable trip!
