Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra trip

On Thursday 19th February, Mr Cheatle and Mr Armstrong had the pleasure of taking a group of Year 9, 10 and 11 Music students to see the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform an outstanding programme of film music by two legendary composers: Hans Zimmer and John Williams. This year’s concert was hosted at Fareham Live, where the intimate setting and excellent sightlines created a wonderfully immersive experience for the students.
The orchestra delivered powerful and captivating performances throughout, bringing iconic film scores to life with exceptional musicianship. Our students were fully engaged from start to finish, and many commented on how inspiring it was to watch a live orchestra perform works they had studied as part of their component learning.
We are extremely grateful to Governor Rick Kempster for generously providing the tickets, and to the BSO for yet another unforgettable and enriching musical experience.
Student reflections:
“Seeing the orchestra in person gave lots of helpful insight into what we have been learning during lessons for our component work.”
“The trip was an excellent experience, and I enjoyed listening to all the different film music pieces, and I think this trip ties in with the music course very well. It was also nice seeing all the different kinds of instruments that are played within an orchestra.”
“This was a really cool trip, and we enjoyed the orchestra playing.”
