Crookhorn hits the slopes - ski trip 2026

Our recent school ski trip to Saalbach, nestled in the stunning Austrian Alps, was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, surrounded by snow-covered peaks and picture-perfect alpine scenery, the excitement among students and staff was clear.

The ski instructors were brilliant. It was fantastic to see how much progress everyone made over the course of the week — many students who were nervous on day one were confidently tackling higher slopes by the end.

Our accommodation was comfortable and welcoming, with hearty Austrian meals that kept us well-fuelled for long days on the mountain. Evenings were just as enjoyable as the skiing, with activities such as Bobby’s Bar for a night of Austrian Skittles, Alpine Coaster, and watching a local Ice Hockey Match. These moments gave everyone a chance to relax, laugh, and bond outside of ski gear.

Beyond the sport itself, the trip offered so much more. Students developed resilience, independence, and teamwork. They supported one another on the slopes, celebrated each other’s successes, and represented the school brilliantly throughout the trip.

A big thank you goes to our trip coordinators, Mr Trott and Mrs Street and to Mrs Callaghan, Mr Olford, Mr Palmer and Miss Mack for all their support and making the trip so memorable.

Here's what a few of our students had to say:

"The ski trip was the best experience i have ever had in my life. Being able to do it with all my best friends and learn new things on the way, going up to the higher slopes which I would have never even imagined before, the trip felt so surreal and being in the comfort of everyone made the experience the best. The mountain coaster was so fun as well, but also just being in the hotel playing games with everyone and planning our day for the next. It was the best thing I have ever done, and I’m so grateful I was able to. Thank you." - Casie-Jane, Year 10

"I started the week without being able to put my ski boots on, and I ended it skiing 3000 metres in the sky through the Austrian mountains. Although really hard, skiing is the best thing I have ever done and the whole week has been the best experience." – Zac, Year 11
