Giselle Royal Ballet trip
What a way to start the new half-term! On Tuesday 24 February, 39 students and five staff had the privilege of attending the Schools' matinée performance of 'Giselle', performed by the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden.
As part of the English Department's 'Opening Doors: Future Creatives' initiative, the students had spent a morning before half-term getting to know the story and then starting to create a costume design for the character of a Wili. On the day, after meeting with Havant MP Alan Mak to share the details of the initiative, we joined with students from across the country, to be thrilled by the dance, design and tragic story of love and betrayal.
The students will now complete their designs , to be sent to the Royal Ballet. Thanks go to Mrs Bennett, Mrs Bezant, Miss Bishop and Mrs Wilson for joining the trip, and to the Taylor Family and Gail Ronson Foundations at the Opera House for funding and facilitating the event.
