Mr Bezant visits China
From March 21st to 29th, Mr Bezant had the wonderful opportunity to visit China as part of the local Federation's China Exchange programme, in partnership with Global School Exchanges.
Along with colleagues from Cowplain, Hayling Island, Oaklands and Park, he visited the cities and schools of Changsha, Jinan and Qinzhou, experiencing education from kindergarten to Senior High School. Over the course of the week, he was able to teach six lessons, in English, in five schools, to classes ranging in size from 19 to 50, and ranging in age from 10 to 17.
It was a truly thrilling experience: 'I went with the intention of opening partnerships that can then be subsequently developed over time. So I taught an English ghost story that my Y10 had studied. They had then read a Chinese ghost story after that, so it was logical to take the original English story to teach in China to complete the partnership.
We used pedagogies that are embedded at Crookhorn throughout... and then posed for the obligatory photographs. Since coming back, I have been exchanging resources with my Chinese counterparts. It was a wholly unforgettable opportunity that I am most privileged to have experienced.'
At the end of the working week, there was time for a day sightseeing at the Great Wall and in Beijing, and apparently, Mr Bezant is already planning his return trip!
