Extra-Curricular Activities
Crookhorn provides every student with opportunities to extend their College day by taking part in any one of a huge range of activities before, during or after school; there really is ‘something for everyone’.
85% of Crookhorn College students attend extra-curricular and House activities.
Sports fixtures are arranged with local schools, and we compete in a number of county-wide competitions for different sports. There are also House Competitions for all the sports we deliver which means everyone can compete – not just those who represent the College on sports teams.
We also offer a range of activities from different practical and academic subjects that take place either at lunchtime or after College. This can be a science club, where students have an extra opportunity to run practicals, or a music club where students can practice for their upcoming performances.
We also offer a Study Club every day after College where students can get support with their homework. As well as all this, students can audition for our annual College production as well as our specific showcase events. So, whether it's sport, performance or study – there are opportunities for all after the College day is done.
Please see below the timetables for Sports Clubs and Subject & Hobbies Clubs we are running this half-term:

We require at least a half-term's notice to terminate lessons at Crookhorn Music School. When notice is given during a half-term that has already commenced, the lessons will terminate at the end of the next full half-term. For example, if notice is given in the middle of January (before the February half-term), then the lessons will terminate at the end of the Spring term (at the Easter break). As invoices are issued each term, in cases where lessons terminate at the half-term break the invoice will only cover the amount owed for the applicable lessons.
To cancel lessons, please do so in writing either by letter addressed to the Head of Music at Crookhorn College, or by email to musicschool@crookhorn.hants.sch.uk.
Duke of Edingburgh's Award
Parents and carers
In more than seven decades of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) we’ve learnt one thing: never doubt what young people can do. Time and again we’ve seen that when you give young people the chance to prove to themselves what they are capable of, there is no limit to what they can achieve.
We’re here to celebrate and champion every young person, enabling a safe and supportive environment as they take on their own challenges, follow their passions and discover talents they never knew they had.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is run right across the UK, in schools, colleges, hospitals, prisons and young offender institutions, as well as youth and sports clubs, and more. In 2022/23 more than 323,000 young people started their DofE Award – the highest number in our 67-year history.
Whatever a young person’s ability, interest or background, a DofE Award can be adapted for them. It’s a prestigious and trusted way to turn the things they love into lifelong skills that can help them get a job, make a difference in their community and take on anything life throws their way. Because when you prove to yourself that you’re ready for anything, nothing can hold you back.
Mr Trott is our DofE Manager, and he is promoting the award for this year's intake. There will be a meeting on Wednesday, 24th September in the Main Hall where students can learn more about the Award and learn how to sign up.
