Crookhorn Hosts Portsmouth Music Festival 2024

On Friday 23rd February, for the first time, we hosted this year’s Rock & Pop section for the Portsmouth Music Festival in our Main Hall. This gave our young musicians from Crookhorn the opportunity to perform on stage with professional sound and lighting, thanks to LiveWire, and compete against young musicians and bands from other local schools and external entrants. We had a great turn out in terms of audience and all performers were given constructive feedback from the adjudicator, Guy Gyngell who runs a local artist management and production company. Overall, the whole evening had such a great atmosphere, and our students were a credit to the College!

We are extremely proud of all the young musicians that took part from Crookhorn and just getting up on stage and performing in front of an audience is such a huge achievement for many. In addition, some of our students were awarded with the following for their category:

  • Best Stage Presence: Blake .McK & Jack .J
  • Best Vocalist: Phoebe .K & Henery .G
  • Best Instrumentalist: Alfie .R & Ellis .C
  • Best Guitarist: Callum .T & Jack .J
  • Best Bassist: Blake .McK & Alicea .L
  • Best Drummer: Alister .B
  • Best Band: Amuse-ing (Blake, Alfie, Charlie, Alister, Callum & Brooke)
  • Best Solo/Duo: Phoebe .K, Henery .G & Hugo .G
  • Ensemble Skills: Alister Boileau & Hugo Gittins
  • The Brian Baber Cup: Jack .J for his solo guitar performance.
